When you step inside Wanha Autti, you travel 700 years back in time. The skillfully designed interior decorating, wall paintings and small details exude the atmosphere which merchants, smiths and other common people once experienced in gathering round the beer tankards and platters of meat to enjoy themselves in singing and playing musical instruments as well as cards and tossing dice. Wanha Autti is a place where you can relish the joys of days gone by. These pleasures include appetising food and herbal drinks combined with the music and comfortable warmth of the Middle Ages. The varieties of food served at Wanha Autti are not merely mediaeval in name: the recipes have been found from those written by master chefs in old-time castles and manors. They knew how the seasons affected what was served on the dinnertable.

The Christmas Gala Banquet consists of four complete courses, prepared
according to recipes from the Middle Ages and including, for instance, Christmas-style
ham, chicken, reindeer meat, fish and—on the side—barley starch and carrots in
addition to rutabaga. The breads served are home-baked spelt, barley and rye.
For dessert, it's tasty pastries and mead, also prepared in accordance with
mediaeval recipes. You can order your beverages on-the-spot: wines, beer
savoured with honey and home-made lager as well as juices (the restaurant is
liquor-licensed) are available.
